The Benefield Wheatsheaf provides a central location for many of the county’s fine walks, rides and sites of historical interest such as Rockingham Castle, Deene Park, Lyveden New Bield and Kirby Hall.

Ornithologists can enjoy a rich variety of wildlife including Red Kites at Fineshade, Oundle Golf Course (2 miles) and renowned fishing at Eyebrook reservoir and Rutland water (12 miles). The Hotel is also adjacent to the village cricket ground. For those interested in “retail therapy” several factory shops are not far away, and the Hotel is close enough to the motorway network to ensure almost any destination is achievable in a day excursion!!!

During the winter, shooting partys are welcome. The Benefield Wheatsheaf has contacts with 11 major local estates where days can be arranged, subject to availablity.

Major events regularly take place at local venues. Burghley Horse Trials, Rockingham Motor Speedway, East of England Showground and racing at Huntingdon Racecourse.
